12 February 2005: LEBANON TO SWAP $3 BILLION IN EUROBONDS
BEIRUT - Central Bank governor Riad Salameh said Friday the government would soon swap $3 billion in eurobonds, which mature in 2006. "The government decided to swap in 2005, $3 billion worth of eurobonds that matures in 2006," Salameh told reporters.

The governor made these remarks during a press conference to announce the opening of an Islamic banking and financial forum in Beirut on April 13 and 14. He added that the Finance Ministry is making all the arrangements to ensure the success of the new swap. Salameh said the swap operation is part of debt management and this will not replace financial reforms designed to reduce the public debt.
